Meet Your Grower

My first memory of growing flowers was planting snapdragons in a small window box with my mom. She loved gardening, as did her father. My grandfather trialed roses for a well-known hybridizer to see how they handled the harsh Midwest winters. He instilled in me at a young age to always take time to smell the roses. It was my mom and grandfather that taught me the importance of taking time for oneself each day and how sharing flowers brings smiles to others.

My path to a flower business began with my first garden many years ago. My husband and I had moved into an apartment together which had a small 4'‘x20’ bed off the patio. My husband amended the soil and we got busy planting snapdragons and ranuculus in fall. As the summer LA heat picked up we grew dahlias, lisianthus, vincas, and marigolds. We added planter boxes and pots to fill every inch of space on that patio. Job opportunities brought us to the PNW about 20 years ago. Dreams of a larger yard to grow in filled our hearts. The gardening fanatics that we are, my husband and I quickly filled our 10,000 sq ft lot with flowering plants of all kinds. A greenhouse was built soon after which resulted in more plants and no space for everything. Our initial solution was to add a 1200 sq ft pea patch in the Kent valley to our growing space. This is where my dream of sharing flowers with others was sown. With an abundance of beauty surrounding me, I knew that I wanted to extend my sharing reach to more than just people in my life.

Watching our lives change through this pandemic and seeing many people seeking to incorporate more joy and healthier habits into their lives, I decided to get back to my roots of wanting to shar ethe joy of growing and sharing flowers. As an educator, I naturally enjoy sharing and empowering others. Gardening brings solace which so many of us are seeking more of in our lives these days. Sharing the joy of growing and cutting flowers with you brings me happiness. I know how gardens help us to slow down, breathe, and take in the beauty of the world. The happy feeling that radiates from within when one gives a home grown bouquet to someone to brighten their day is what gratitude is all about. Here’s to helping you grow a healthier world for ourselves, our friends, and world.
